About Green Hills Fountain Community Center
Green Hills Fountain Community Center, also known by many in the area as Green Hills Community Center, is a rural nonprofit community center located at 17913 Park Place Rd in Fountain, Florida, near Highway 231.
Built in 1945, the center has served the Youngstown and Fountain area for generations. Though the building is only about 4,192 square feet, every part of it is used to support the community.
Green Hills Fountain Community Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operated entirely by volunteers. No board members or volunteers are paid. The center exists because neighbors, families, volunteers, and community members continue to give their time, care, work, and support.

Our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming place where the community can gather, support one another, share resources, and build friendships through service, fellowship, and care.
A Safe Haven for the Community
For many people in the rural Fountain and Youngstown area, the community center is more than a building. It is a safe haven.
It is a place where children, families, seniors, veterans, disabled community members, neighbors, and anyone in need can come together. It gives people a place to gather, talk, share, receive support, and stay connected with others.
Community Library
The center includes a small but meaningful Community Library. The library works on the honor system and is supported by donated books and volunteer care.
Community members may browse, borrow, return, and share books as part of this simple neighborhood resource.
Kitchen, Meals, and Food Pantry Support
The center has a full kitchen with refrigerators, stoves, cabinets, and space used for community meals, breakfasts, dinners, and special gatherings.
The kitchen also helps support a community food pantry. With help from volunteers, local community support, and USPS food drives when available, the center helps provide food support for neighbors in need.
Main Hall and Community Gatherings
The main hall is used for many kinds of community activities and gatherings. Over the years, it has been used for bingo, movie nights, dinners, celebrations, weddings, baby showers, memorials, holiday gatherings, and other community events.
Movie nights, community meals, bingo, and special events give people a chance to come together, visit, laugh, share food, and enjoy time with neighbors.
Emergency Community Support
The center also keeps donated thrift-store items that may help families and neighbors during emergencies.
In a rural area, storms, fires, and hardship can leave people without basic household items. While the center cannot replace everything someone has lost, donated clothing, blankets, pots, pans, household goods, and other items can help a person or family take the first steps after a difficult situation.
This quiet support has always been an important part of the center’s purpose.
Community Yard Sales and Donations
Community yard sales help support the center and keep donated items moving to people who can use them.
Sales are held on the first and third Saturday of each month, plus select extra weekends throughout the year. These sales help raise money for center expenses while also providing affordable items for local families.

Some events are free, while certain dinners, fundraisers, or special activities may ask for donations to help pay the center’s bills and keep the doors open.
Green Hills Cemetery
One of the most meaningful responsibilities of the center is the care of Green Hills Cemetery.
The cemetery is about five acres and is maintained by the center. It is not fancy, but it means a great deal to the families and community members connected to it.
The cemetery has a long-standing community rule: qualifying community members who have lived in the area for more than one year may have a space without paying for the space. Spaces are not held in advance, except for a spouse of someone already buried there. Spaces are handled on a first-come, first-claim basis.
This cemetery is another way the center serves the community with dignity, care, and respect.
All Volunteer
Green Hills Fountain Community Center is operated by volunteers. No one is paid. Volunteers do not receive pay for their time, gas, food, or work. Board members also serve as volunteers.
Every event, meal, sale, program, repair, cleanup day, and act of service happens because people care enough to help.
